LITTLE ITALY

Little Italy is a neighborhood in Manhattan, once known for its large population of Italian immigrants. In the middle of the 20th century however, many Italian immigrants left Manhattan for other boroughs and Little Italy began to gradually shrink. Today Little Italy basically consists of Mulberry Street, where many Italian restaurants and gourmet-shops are located. Little Italy still attracts a lot of tourists; however, the real Italian atmosphere can’t be found there anymore. For a more authentic “Little Italy” experience, it is more advisable to visit Belmont in the Bronx.
