WILLIAMSBURG NORTHSIDE

Williamsburg’s North Side is New York’s ‘it’ neighborhood of the past decade. It’s a mix of young artists and professionals, hipsters, and Italian and Polish immigrants. The area is often referred to as the “New East Village”, because it’s very hip and trendy. Many factories and warehouses were converted into clubs and residential lofts, and Bedford Avenue offers everything from young fashion boutiques, cafés, indie-rock bars, to trendy restaurants. A vibrant music scene has also risen up in Williamsburg. The area around Kent Avenue and 10th Street near the East River is very industrial, but you’ll find clothes shops in places you would never expect. A very popular second-hand shop named “Beacon’s Closet” can be found on 11th Street, between Berry and Whyte.
